Has globalization benefited companies and people?

Globalization has definitely benefited companies. Companies can extend their range and reach in terms of markets and production facilities to national, multinational, and international levels.

Companies have benefited due to globalization in terms of increase in the power, profits, and productivity of when they have strategically chosen among many nations for their sources of materials, production facilities, and markets, by quickly adjusting to changing market conditions.

People have benefited due to globalization as it has involved greater openness in the international economy, an integration of markets on a worldwide basis, and a movement toward a borderless world, all of which have yielded an increases in quantity and quality of products and services.

How long will globalization continue?

There is enough literature saying that- Globalization is ever increasing. This in turn has increased competition for companies generating both losers and winners in the process; it has also increased market share and profitability. Globalization has helped to improve the economy of countries.
While there are also literature which says that globalization will continue as countries and companies aspire for improved economics. The question i have is, will this continue forever, if not how long will this continue?

Do we need to embrace globalization?

I am not sure if we need to fully embrace globalization. In the context of wealth creation globalization has helped, but on the other hand I believe it has also detiorated the quality of life and value systems.

In my opinion it is important for individuals, companies, communities and nations to address this to sustain better quality of life. The question arises from this is, what is then the right amount of globalization, and who should address this on priority?

Has development in other areas lead to globalization?

It seems to me that globalization is fuelled by various other development, some key ones that have contributed are mentioned below-
1. Technological advances have significantly lowered the costs of transportation, communication and dramatically lowered the costs of data processing and information storage and retrieval
2. Trade liberalization and other forms of economic liberalization that have led to reduced trade protection and to a more liberal world trading system
3. Global agreement on ideology, with a convergence of beliefs in the value of a market economy and a free trade system
4. A certain improved level in understanding cultures and acceptance of English language as official business language internationally
